If I have to tell you one thing about Apple, it would be this: Apple has released new phones, and they are called Apple 18 Phone Pro Max, and there’s a Duo, which is a foldable phone. It appears to me that Steve Jobs, if he were alive today, would be terribly unhappy to see what the current situation of the Apple company is. I still don’t understand how and why.
First of all, I will talk about how Apple has created this culture and mindset in people: without it, they cannot show off that it is a necessity of life. That iPhone is a necessity of life, and without it, you cannot live. Those people who have it are more classy. Without even saying a word, without even telling anything about it in any of the advertising, they have established this fact: people who purchase an iPhone are classy, and people who do not have it are substandard.
I don’t know how this mindset has got into and penetrated society, but I have encountered this thought so many times indirectly from people that I had to myself buy an iPhone when I didn’t like having an iPhone. I still have an iPhone, but I don’t like to use it. It is so restricted in so many senses.
iPhone Duo, on the other hand, is a copy of all the Chinese brands and Samsung, which have already launched such kinds of phones before, like foldable phones where they have curved impressions when you fold the phone. iPhone Duo seems not to have that because it has a matte finish and is a passport-shaped phone. I am not going to buy it ever in my life because it is costing me nearly ₹3 lakh in India, which is a huge amount.
Some people on X also write that your PAN disclosure will also be needed to purchase iPhone Duo because it is costing a fucking huge amount of money. None of the videos that I saw on iPhone Duo are the ones that I like. I mean, how would you hold this phone in your hand? Even if you hold the phone in your hand, you won’t be able to put it inside your pocket. It is a useless phone, but you won’t understand it till you buy it. In videos, they will show it to you in a manner in which you will start liking it, but overall, trust me on this: you won’t find it very useful.
This has happened with me before as well. There were so many things that I bought, thinking and watching the videos that they might be very useful and that I would use them every day. 90% of all those things are just lying in my bedroom, and I’m not using them. I know this.
What they do, what Apple does, is that they would invite influencers to their events all over the world. These influencers are given free phones, and after that, I don’t think any influencer will be able to say bad things about them. It is just like launching an IPO. Just before an IPO is launched, all the influencers are paid money, or the bloggers are paid money, and soon the IPO falls down after getting launched, after the company makes all the money.
₹3 lakh for an Indian is a huge amount of money. With the same amount of money, you can buy a secondhand car, a good motorcycle, or good amounts of gold, which you can keep. In a small town, you can buy land as well. You can actually, in a bigger city, hire a room and buy everything, like a fridge, a microwave, and everything, and you can start your new life from ₹3 lakh. ₹3 lakh just for an iPhone Duo is just affordable.
I don’t care whether it has other features as well, which I am pretty sure are useless. All the features that Apple has introduced in the last 10 years are useless. One of those times, I remember they even introduced an emoji, a shitty emoji, as a feature. What do you expect from them? There’s nothing to expect from them.
