  • Sit Down and Do the Work: No One Cares About Your Excuses

Sit down on your ass and do the goddamn work.

Every process—not just writing—is boring at times, and you will lose interest at some point.

The problem isn’t that you’re getting bored. The real problem begins when you abandon the process for a while. Because when you come back, you have to start from the very beginning.

Your mind is designed for procrastination. Don’t waste your time writing lame articles about how to cure it—none of them work in the long term.

All you have to do is keep working. Strictly—don’t get caught up in thoughts or feelings. Don’t give weight to your own mind.

Your mind will fool you. It will try to convince you there’s something else you should be doing.

Give it too much freedom, and it’ll always lead you to something meaningless.

The important things in this world are the ones that require effort—and your mind is wired to avoid those parts.

Don’t give any weight to your mind.

A free mind is a fool’s mind. That’s why everyone keeps shouting from their guts about the importance of discipline.

In the end, nothing matters except what you put out into the world. A finished product—writing or otherwise—is the only thing that has value.

Even a nearly completed novel is of no use to anyone.
