They don’t want you inside the club and it is not you, but them.
I again got another rejection slip from another publications house for my book.
It is same everywhere.
You cannot enter anywhere.
In film industry they have made it exclusive for people to enter inside the big league.
In legal field they have made it difficult to reach to the top and by pass seniors.
In book publishing it is the same.
How bad can I be to get rejected everywhere.
I have been writing on and off for so many years now and have read so many books to understand and differentiate between what is good and what is bad.
What I have written is a decent book with proper footnotes and citations. It is a book on constitution of India, primarily, the Keshavananda Bharti case.
They may be rejecting it because they think they can’t sell it. They cannot, I challenge, can reject it because the book because they think is bad writing.
No, it is not sir.
It is better than most of the crap they produce.
Maybe I am not a commercial writer but may I tell you that somewhere every writer has to start.
Then on top of that, these publication houses needed references from stronger people to publish book. Either it is strong recommendation or it is about money.
If you don’t have money, you cannot publish your book.
Worst thing is that they don’t have enough time to tell me why they are rejecting my book. The only reason every publication house gave was that they don’t find it align with the publication style of their publication house.
Then they charge hefty amounts to publish the book from the first-time authors. It is a well-kept secret of most of the first time authors that they self-publish their books.
I don’t care anymore now. I am self publishing it.
All these publishers, are actually causing the book industry to die.
They are never going to promote young writers because they don’t trust them.
It is never about the content or the product, it has always been about the person.
I was fooled to think that merit means skill, merit means acknowledgement of your peers and among those peers has to be someone who already has huge standing in the human society.
Whom you know and how you know matters a lot.
It is impossible to enter into any group these days.
I used to wonder that there are so many coding tutorials on internet but why don’t they make their own apps and softwares and earn money like Mark Zuckerberg or bill gates or Sam Altman. It is because merely knowing coding won’t help you.
It is more than that. You need to have money for hosting, money for buying extra space, money to buy high end processors and what not and pay the fucking electricity bill.
It is bullshit that ideas make money. Only money makes money.
If you have money you can make more money.
I have decided to go for self-publishing. There is no secret to anything anymore.
Sometimes I download books from internet and read, and at times I used to feel guilty about doing that.
But trust me today I have no guilt that I was doing it.
When I see the publishing lists of most publishing houses, I see only junk books. I don’t know who is reading all that.
Low quality content is the king, unlike what google says.
When I run a website, I see that google publishes a list of rules for writing the articles which are non-necessary. There is more than enough space on internet to write content. Just don’t index them. What is this logic of asking people to write in a certain manner only and pay them money.
Is google claiming that he knows every single writing structure in the world.
Maybe they do. But then what?
May be problem lies with me only. How can a man fail every time. But I must accolade myself for fighting back every time.
I am still not demotivated. I will do whatever it takes to do whatever dreams I have set for myself.
Now on to self publishing.
